The Person Behind the Platform

Stephan Schoenig

Stephan Schoenig

Founder & CEO

When Stephan trained as a mindfulness teacher, his participants wanted their course content in an app. The problem was, no fit-for-purpose platform existed to digitalise an evidence-based programme without compromising its integrity. With over 30 years in IT, including enterprise leadership roles at Shell, and a deep personal mindfulness practice, he was unusually well placed to build one.

Since 2018, the BeWell Catalyst platform has supported healthcare professionals and wellbeing practitioners across multiple institutions, powering programmes including ESRT from UCSF Center for Mindfulness in Surgery. The platform handles everything from participant engagement to research-grade data collection, so practitioners can focus on teaching rather than technology.

Stephan holds an MEng in Computer Science and an MSc in Mindfulness-Based Approaches, and regularly presents at international conferences and runs workshops on digitalising wellbeing delivery.
